So two weeks ago Will and I embarked on THE best vacation we have ever taken! We drove from Atlanta to Seattle, WA. It was the most AMAZING experience I have ever had. Our voyage started in Atlanta, and then to Nashville for the night before we headed west to Lawrence, Kansas. Lawrence is where Will grew up. And I was VERY skeptical about Kansas. But I WAS pleasantly surprised. Lawrence was an AWESOME town, almost Austin, TX like. With funky stores, cool places to eat and fun bars. We had a BLAST and the University of Kansas was GORGEOUS! I would DEFINITELY live here! We spent a night in Kansas, then headed west to Colorado. That second day was a LONG boring day across the plains of Kansas. We saw NOTHING for miles, but it did give us tons of time to talk and listen to music. We had so much fun. We got to Fort Collins CO around 3PM. Colorado was a cool state too. I really enjoyed hanging out there.
The next day we headed to Bozeman, MT to stay with our friends for a few days. I had the idea in my head that I would think MT was nice and pretty, but I WOULD never want to live there...well I WAS SO WRONG. Bozeman was THE coolest place we visited on our entire trip, even beating out Seattle, which I assumed would be our favorite place. Bozeman was so cool, laid back, and beautiful. We instantly fell in love with the people, the town and the countryside. The best part is...there is an university in Bozeman, Montana State....needless to say we have started looking MORE seriously about moving to Montana...it was an amazing place that I cant seem to get out of my head.
While in Bozeman we spent some quality time with old friends. We went whitewater rafting, did some hiking and even hit of a few bars in Bozeman...all in all an EXCELLENT experience. Oh and did I mention they have some of the BEST microbrewed beer I have EVER tasted!
We headed further west towards Seattle on Thursday of our trip. Driving through the western part of Montana and the panhandle of Idaho was AMAZING. I literally could not stop taking pictures. We stopped in Spokane to eat at a place I had seen on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives (one of my favorite shows)...which totally held up to the hype. After that we headed towards Seattle. I have to say that Eastern Washington state was NOT what we expected. It was flat like Kansas. But once we hit the middle of the state we began to see the BIG green trees and mountains!
I have to say I enjoyed our time in Seattle, but it didnt live up to the expectations I had for it. I am not saying I wouldnt live there...cause I would...but...It was not what I expected. We did all the typical tourist things: Pikes Market, took pics of the Space Needle and ate clam chowder. But we also just drove around and tried to see how the locals lived. And I have to say it was more beautiful away from downtown.
Ok..so here are some highlights from our trip. For more pics go to my Facebook account!
