Well, the new year has begun, and I have been doing an awful job of posting! Will and I had a wonderful NYE just the two of us, we were suppose to go to Chattanooga to visit friends but I ended up feeling terrible and so we didn't go. So NYE we just went to dinner and watched the ball drop in our sweats! It was LOVELY! Funny how 10 years can change your NYE experience. At 22 I could NEVER imagine sitting at home, but now at 32 I enjoy spending time at home with my hubby. Plus, it makes the next day much more bearable, I'm actually able to get vertical before noon!
The new year has started off well for us, I am in the last semester of my course work for my ph.d....I seriously can not believe it. I feel like I just started. I will be meeting with my committee chair on Tuesday to begin the process of my final comprehensive exam, after I pass that I will be officially a "Doctoral Candidate", and will begin to write my dissertation. It really seems surreal that in a short time I will be Dr. Emily Williams!
Will is moving along with his dissertation as well, he is in the data collection phase, which means that once he collects enough data from surveys he will then begin analyzing and writing his conclusions. Once that is all done, he will defend and graduate! He is shooting for Summer 2012 graduation...I am so excited to be able to call him Dr. Will! He is also in the process of looking for a job. We are hopeful that he will find something here at Auburn, even though AU is not where we want to stay permanently, this would buy me some time to finish up my dissertation.
The other SUPER exciting news is that my best friend, Amy, had her sweet baby over the Christmas holiday...she is an absolute doll. Emma Elisabeth was born on December 20, Amy was in labor for over 30 hours (what a trooper!). I went up the day after she was born to meet her, and we went up for Amy's birthday weekend to spend time with them and go to dinner. Emma is the sweetest little baby I have ever met. It makes me want to hurry up and get pregnant for sure! My other best friend, Brooke is due with her little boy, Brayden on April 4...I am super excited to meet him as well. We are throwing a shower for her at the end of February.
