Trapped in Nashville

This past weekend, Will and I went to Nashville to visit his Mom for an early Mother's Day.   We had seen on our way up there that there was going to be quite a bit of rain on Saturday...but no one could have prepared us for the Flood of 2010!

The rain started getting really bad on Saturday night, and even had the power go out for about three hours or so.  Sunday we got up and started getting ready to head home to Auburn. That is when we turned on teh news and saw what was going on!  Nashville was flooded. At noon on Sunday when we tried to leave, all the interstates were closed and they were telling people NOT to travel because teh water was rising so quickly. Luckily, Will's mom lives up on a hill and her house was not damaged, but all the roads/streets/interstates surrounding us had some sort of flooding issue.  We knew it was bad when the news was telling people that if they were going to travel make sure to have a life vest in your car in case you get in a flooding situation. It was at that point that we decided to not leave until Monday...the roads were just too bad.

Monday we got up and got going, for the most part the interstates were some better, but most of the major ways we would have normally taken were blocked by either water or traffic, so we had to be creative in getting to I-65 S...but we did it! And man let me tell you it felt good to be on that road heading back home.  The devastation in Nashville is terrible and I feel terrible for all the people up there who have lost everything.....I am thankful for what we have!  Here are some pics from the devastation....
