My Job

I LOVE my job! You probably do not hear that all that much from people, but I actually do LOVE my job.  I think alot of that has to do with the people that I work with.  I have worked in offices before where there is fighting, back stabbing, gossip, etc. And I HATED it!  But I have worked as an Academic Advisor for 2 years now (I CAN NOT believe we have been in Auburn that long), and I would say that I want to come to work 95% of the time (who wants to come to work 100% of the time!).   This is the first time in my entire life I can say that I love my job!

Another reason I love my job so much is my students! I am an academic advisor to over 1000 college students (many of which can be frustrating sometimes), but I am also in charge of the Peer Instructors for our college. My peer instructors are amazing and I enjoy every moment I spend with them. 

This semester I am stepping outside of the academic advisor role for 1 hour each week, and stepping into the teacher role.  I was nervous about teaching , but after two weeks of doing it I LOVE IT.  I teach a course called UNIV 1000, which is entitled the Auburn Experience. It is a course for Auburn freshman to get acclimated to the university.  I really feel like I have found a niche in teaching.  And I believe that I am going to continue to do this for a long time.  My thought right now is after I get my Ph.D to teach part time graduate education courses. And maybe eventually go full time faculty...but we will see what the good Lord has in store for me... because I would not have gotten this far with out him!
