A little bit before Christmas, Will and I decided that we would start declaring Friday nights as our Date Nights. This was after we discovered that with the both of us working and going to school for our Ph.D's that we barely see each other during the week for more than 1 hour per day (how sad is that!). So we declared Friday nights as our date nights....and what we have found is that we both REALLY look forward to date nights. Some nights we have gone out on the town in Auburn, tried a new restaurant, or gone to an old favorite. One of our most favorite is Mellow Mushroom, we like to pull right up to the bar, have a couple REALLY good high gravity beers, watch some sports and have a great pizza. Our other MOST favorite place is this place here in Auburn called Amsterdam's...it is a little pricey but delicious, and totally worth whatever we end up spending (which is always WAY over budget). But some nights we just order a pizza and hang at home,or like tonight, we are going to make tacos and probably end up signing kareoke on demand (we are dorks like that!).
What we hope is that this tradition is something that we can continue to do (probably not as often) when we have a baby, and it has been really great for our relationship, because if there is something that I have been meaning to talk about with him, I can wait until Friday night because I know we will both have each others undivided attention. Which is great! I love date nights!
